GDPR - planning for implementation

The GDPR takes effect from 25 May 2018. As Data Controllers, Trustees need to ensure that their pension schemes are compliant from that date. Breaches of the GDPR may attract significant fines. There are a number of tasks and considerations for Trustees to deal with and it is sensible to identify these now and implement a plan.

We have experience of managing the GDPR process from both the Trustee perspective (on Schemes where we act as Independent Trustee) and from the Scheme advisor and consultant perspective.

We have adopted a proportional and practical approach to what is a complex area.

In order to help our clients, we have prepared an example Privacy Notice that might be issued to members and a data mapping questionnaire.

I would highlight that we cannot provide legal advice to the Trustees on GDPR. The documents attached are provided as examples only for the assistance of the Trustees.

If you have any questions or, would like a second opinion, on GDPR then please contact us.

We have worked with Atkin Trustees for many years on a wide range of cases and issues. They adopt a sensibly practical approach to trusteeship, focusing on outcomes for members. They’re also a nice bunch of people to work with.
